MAP Pharmaceuticals is a product-based company that leverages its scientific and clinical expertise to develop and commercialize innovative drugs for patients with neurological diseases. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for millions of people around the world who suffer from neurological diseases that we believe are not adequately treated by currently available medicines.
With our efforts today targeting neurological disorders, MAP Pharmaceuticals focuses on providing patients and physicians with therapies that offer clear, differentiated benefits over existing drugs. Whether it is a faster onset of action, less invasive delivery or reduced side effects, we are committed to identifying significant undermet needs and opportunities, and applying our considerable medical and scientific experience to finding solutions that make a difference to patients and physicians.

Our lead product candidate, LEVADEX®, an orally inhaled investigational drug for the acute treatment of migraine in adults, is designed to address one of these large areas of unmet need in neurology. On March 26, 2012, we received a Complete Response letter to our NDA for LEVADEX® in which the FDA identified issues that we need to address in order to obtain FDA approval of LEVADEX®. In the Complete Response letter, the FDA requested that we address issues relating to chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC). The FDA also stated that manufacturing deficiencies identified during a recent facility inspection of a third party manufacturer need to be resolved to the FDA’s satisfaction. The FDA indicated that it had not been able to complete review of inhaler usability information that we provided in response to a request by the FDA late in the review cycle.
MAP Pharmaceuticals has entered into a collaboration agreement with Allergan, Inc. to co-promote LEVADEX® to neurologists and pain specialists in the United States and Canada, pending potential approval by the FDA. Specifically, Allergan will leverage its existing U.S. sales force dedicated to neurologists and headache specialists currently using BOTOX® for Chronic Migraine, which will be complemented by MAP Pharmaceuticals’ field sales force targeting neurologists and pain specialists. MAP Pharmaceuticals retains all rights to commercialize LEVADEX® outside the U.S. and Canada, as well as to primary care and other physicians within the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to our expertise in small particle development, aerosol formulation and inhalation delivery, MAP’s core competency in pulmonary medicine and neurology makes us well positioned to expand our product pipeline into other neurological undermet medical needs such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy.
